Guardians of the Galaxy is the tenth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The 2014 American superhero film is based on the Marvel Comics produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.  James Gunn directed the film and wrote the screenplay with Nicole Perlman. The cast of the film includes Chriss Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dava Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Micheal Rook, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glen Close and Benicio del Toro.

The film was released in theaters August 1, 2014 in the United States in 3D and IMAX 3D and became financial success, grossing over $588 million worldwide. A sequel is expected in 2017.
